RRCC Tours Scotland

Scotland pic

The Round Rock Community Choir’s 4th international tour to Scotland was an incredible thing to be a part of. The trip began with a tour of Sterling Castle and a beautiful drive through the countryside to the small coast town of Oban from where we traveled by ferry to the Isles of Mull, and finally Iona. There, we performed in the historic Iona Abbey, the birthplace of Christianity in all of Scotland, for a very healthy crowd of Scots and even a few Texans that just happened to be passing through!

A trip through the famous Highlands took us right past Loch Ness and the highest mountain in the British Isles, to Inverness.  At the “capital of the Highlands” we performed at Old High Church, where our organist Patrick Scott, DMA Candidate in Organ Performance at UT, performed with us on their newly refurbished, century-old organ.

Our final stop in Scotland was the capital, Edinburgh (pronounced ed- in-burr-uh by the natives). There we visited the official residence of the Queen in Scotland, Holyrood house, and Edinburgh Castle, which flank the gorgeous city. We performed in St. Giles’ Cathedral, the principal place of worship for the Church of Scotland. It was a noon time prayer service lead by a minister of the church.  We had the opportunity to sing with Patrick Scott accompanying on the famous Rieger Organ at St. Giles Cathedral, a rare opportunity that few, if any, performing groups have the privilege of having.
